His happy mistakes still amuse me, because once i make a mistake its a block for me...but Ross has shown me to work with it, and being confident. Also that everything happens for a reason. Another person I've been watching is Kevin Hill...if you want to see these paintings look them up. There is something interesting about watching another artist paint...its...magical...
So far its coming out great! Getting the base colors down...i will continue monday:) have a great weekend
Honestly, i have never bought a big canvas in my life, i always painted on little 18x24's. But today that has changed...I went to Jerry's for a new canvas, and luckily they had a sale on canvases! so this was a perfect opportunity to purchase a huge Canvas! thank you Jerry Artarama's for the new 40 x 60 canvas. its coming out great! but sadly, when i bought this biggie, it could not fit in my little car:( i tried everything! putting the seats down, trying the trunk, the front door, the hood! it would not fit anywhere! luckily we called a friend of ours to help us out. and you know what? yeah you guessed...it wouldn't fit in his ride either! for a second i thought this had back fired on me! but thankfully my girlfriend knew this one guy, that amazingly! has a truck, so hell yes! time to get this big guy to the studio!...i was eager to start this painting...because i ain't leaving a unpainted canvas in the studio...I'm glad i started...it's coming together nicely! i will work on this bad boy tomorrow...to be continued and have a great night!
Hello again people! after my successful study painting, i decided to do a landscape painting of one of the monuments back home. Because after reading so much on April Gornik, she said that she has a connection with her landscapes, emotionally and physically...so i channeled my emotions and went with what "home" felt like. the vibrant colors in the sky, the nice warm and cool colors that illuminate the clouds, and how the mountains there feel during this time of the day. I'm painting Window Rock located in Window Rock, AZ. I'll keep you updated!
This is a small 12x18 study painting. In class we are going over paintings through the 60's and 70's, and we had to take one of the artist's concept during this time and study how they created their works of art. and whom i picked was April Gornik, known for her landscapes. if you want to see her paintings look her up, shes got huge paintings! and that's what I'm planning on doing as well. This will be surprising because this will be my first huge painting!!! I'll post the progression photos soon:) have a good night
I've taken some time off from my Mono prints, but I am back at it with my Mono Print "Home" series. If you have a rock or mountain formation that reminds you of "Home", then comment it down below, better yet, comment the picture and maybe i will think about doing that print.
At long last, the painting has reached its final touches. It has taken at least 19.5 hours to complete this guy. Feel free to comment.
